A new iPhone7, iPhone 7 Plus has been released in metallic matte red finish by Apple. A new iPad dubbed “iPad” has also been released.
The iPhone red edition is exactly the same as the iPhone 7 that was released in September 2016.
The red iPhone is available in 128GB and 256GB variants.
The main selling point is a portion of the proceeds from the red iPhone goes to The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
Apple will not comment on how much percentage of each iPhone sale will be contributed. The program however has said Apple has contributed around $130 million since 2006.
The new 9.7″ iPad replaces the iPad 2. There is not much of a difference in this iPad as well. It runs on an A9 processor that was released in the iPhone last year.
It will be the cheapest iPad going on sale at US$329 for a 32GB Wifi only device.
The reason for this low starting price is to win back schools.Google has been largely successful with the Chromebooks overtaking Apple in schools.
Apple has also been working on educational apps such as Swift Playgrounds that teaches kids how to code.
