Here are a few simple steps on How to Prevent Email Attacks.
- Look Closely!
Look at the sender address and the domain name. If there are misspellings, this a sign that the email is not genuine. If it claims to be from your bank, utility service provider this will be obvious.
- Do not Follow!
If the email has a link to click or requests to send your username / password to your online banking, delete the email straight away. If there are attachments do not open them.
- Do not Share Personal Details Online!
Hackers will comb social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn or Google Plus for personal details. This is called Social Engineering.
